Walking on the beach in Struisbaai I noticed a small tree sponge washed up among the storm debris. I stood amazed at the tree-like branches and veins, fitting into the palm of my hand-this living organism. I wasn’t ready to throw it away-I knew here was more to see.
I planted its base in the sand and took a few shots against the sun, the veins shimmered against the bright light. Not yet satisfied, I took it closer to the water’s edge, waiting for the full reflection in the water and the dripping of water from the branches.
I simply love this shot. Soo much to explore in this image-Giving this tree sponge a chance to stand tall and grand once more.
